DAY 5 -- AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2015





The third round or the Round of 32 brought with it its share of heartbreaks and upcoming stars. The most upsetting moment came when Federer lost his match to Andreas Seppi. All the three Indian players playing in the fray lost their matches, though Sania Mirza resurrected some pride by winning her mixed doubles match.


Men’s Singles


Federer (2) was the biggest upset. Nadal on the other hand, despite his injury, played some mind boggling tennis to defeat Dudi Sela in straight sets. Richard Gasquet (24) lost his match to Anderson (14).

Women’s Singles

Despite raging sexism controversies, the female players displayed some stunning performances. Sara Errani lost her match to Wickmayer though. Other seeded players to be shown the door is Pliskova (22) and Diyas (31). They was defeated by the 10th seeded Makarova and second seeded Sharapova.

The first day of the mixed doubles saw three matches. Sania Mirza partnered Bruno Soares.
